One Room Challenge | Week 1: Guest Bedroom Befores

I can't believe it's been a year since our laundry room makeover and 5 months since the home office! It's spring time and the One Room Challenge has rolled around again. I had a hard time deciding if I was going to do this challenge or not, and really only made a decision last night. Since I have a busy spring and am doing two other spaces outside of my house I was afraid I wouldn't have enough time to put into this round. But after thinking about it, I realized one of the spaces I'm almost finished with and the other I'm going to knock out in one weekend. And this challenge really give me motivation to better my own spaces. So let's do it!

If you've been reading long you'll know what the One Room Challenge is already, but if you don't you can read all about it on their website and see all the past spaces. Short story is you have 6 weeks to completely transform one room and there is no budget. Since I'm a real person who is a newlywed (I guess you're still a newlywed after almost 2 years..) and sticks to a budget, I always only spend a few hundred dollars (like $200-$300).

This round I chose to tackle our guest bedroom. I've had plans to do something about it since we moved in but haven't gotten around to it.

The blank canvas on the wall is one of my canvases I have yet to use. Hopefully this challenge will help my creative juices flow and I'll pump out a pretty painting to display here.

Right after you walk in there is a desk on the right that I use as my get ready vanity in the mornings. I used to use the big (gigantic) white one but I restored that one and used it in the office.

Basically this room doubles as my closet. Evidenced by all my shoes...

And my purses.

And my clothes haha. I build my custom closet and added some shelving last year.

More shoes people. And believe it or not this is about 20% of what I accumulated over my high school career and first part of college. When I got married I threw/sold most of my shoes and it was so freeing. One of the best part of this challenge is purging all your stuff (purging more in this case).

Right at this moment I have no idea what direction I'm going to go. But the beauty of picking this room is there is not a ton to do. So stay tuned each Thursday for an update and check out all of the other participants!

You can see all the featured designers on Wednesdays and all the guest participants on Thursdays.
