The New Roof is Up

Last week I showed you the different options we were considering for our new roof color from our roofer United Roofing. I landed on a dark gray and a lighter gray. After photoshopping both colors onto the house I decided on the darker gray called Charcoal Gray. A few days later the company showed up to work their magic. Yes, absolute magic.

The de-roofing team showed up around 12pm. They prepped the area around the roof and unloaded all the supplies. Once they were all up there and ready to start working, they had all the shingles off in less than an hour. I was on my lunch break and it sounded like they were trying to tear the entire house down it was so loud, but I'm glad they were able to get it done so fast.

When the manager gave Auston an update mid-way through, he mentioned there was more rotted roof than they had planned and they had to get extra plywood to cover what they didn't plan for. It really didn't surprise us because we knew it was really bad off, but it just confirmed for us that it was good we didn't wait any longer to get a new one. You can see where most of the front portion had to be completely replaced.

I knew the roof's new color would up our curb appeal but wow it really takes me aback when I pull up every day!

It took the team from 12:00pm to 5:30pm to have it completely done, the area clean, and the manager doing his final check with us. Even with the extra plywood expense, it only totaled $6,800 which was less than we budgeted for (woo!). They even removed all the unnecessary vents and updated the ones that had to stay. If you live in Northeast Georgia, I 100% recommend United Roofing.

Can you spy the grass coming in?!

Nothing shows the difference better than a good side by side. It's hard to believe our old roof even lasted as long as it did.

We still have a long way to go on the exterior, but this is a huge leap forward. I'm just glad we now have a roof that will protect us for so many years to come.
