$100 Room Challenge | Week 3: Painting the Walls White

Week 3 of the $100 Room Challenge is not a super exciting post for us, so bear with me. I painted the white walls... white. Also all the prep that comes with painting like caulking, spackling, and sanding - which if you've ever done a painting project you know a good paint job is made up of 90% good prep job. If you haven't seen the past few weeks of this challenge you can catch up below.

Week 1: The Befores & Plans
Week 2: Refreshing the Hex Tile

It may be hard to tell the difference in the photos, but I promise you the in person difference is very noticeable. Here's how it looked last week...

The new white is Behr's slightly warm Snow Fall I had left over from our Playroom Spring Makeover. I did the walls in eggshell and the trim/window in semi-gloss. Here's how it looks this week with a new coat of paint...

It's definitely a relief to have the patches of shiny sheens gone and everything one color. I peeled off the old cracking caulk and re caulked all the seams.

Since this bathroom hasn't had any love for a long time the paint was cracking in several places. I took our paint scrapper and sander to knock down all the rough edges and went over it with the spackle I always keep on hand (my #1 thing I keep in stock other than caulk and screws). I opt for the DryDex that goes on pink and dries white since I am notoriously impatient when it comes to dry time.

I actually had an ephinany while I was painting and finally decided on a DIY shelf and is where half of my remaining budget is going to go. If you caught my stories you saw a sneak peak of the mirror I got on super sale at Target which gives me an extra $20 I had budgeted for the mirror I can now put towards decor. Lots to do in the next week for the reveal next Wednesday. Where has this month gone?!

Budget Used
Grout Renew - $9
Mirror - $20

Be sure to stop by each everyone's updates this week and show them some love!

  4. I used the same dry wall mud for the same reason I have to leave it be until the pink goes away, lol. Your bathroom really is looking great, and you are certainly showing it some love, great job!
