$100 Room Challenge | Week 1: The Bathroom Befores & Plans

There's nothing that gets my heart pumping like choosing a space to tackle for the $100 Room Challenge the night before your post goes live. I finally settled on our full bathroom. It is our only full bathroom, is pretty small, and has 0 storage. The biggest goal for this round is to finally get a real coat of paint on the walls to cover up the 3 different kinds of paint sheen, possibly find a pendant light, and mainly make some storage options.

The tile work wasn't terrible when we moved in and was probably the best room in the house. Hence, why we haven't done anything to the space in 2 years. But it's finally time! I'm have no idea how many things we'll fit in the budget this time, so this round will be extra fun.

If you don't know what the $100 Room Challenge is, you can read about it on Erin's blog. Basically we take one space and make it over in just one month with only a $100 budget. It stretches our creative juices and gives the extra motivation to tackle a space.

This challenge has already helped me make over our half bath, our carport, our hallway closet.

Here's how it looked 2 years ago when we moved in.

After frosting the window and putting up the small shelf the other week, here's how it looks today.

Not terrible, but definitely not completely functional for us.

Basically the plan is to make floating shelves (apparently my go-to) and add some hooks for towels. I used SketchUp and put my ideas on paper. Eventually I'm going to replace the old wall sink with a vanity so we can have even more storage for the ugly stuff.

This challenge is growing every round, but we are still a tight knit community who supports each other. Be sure to check out everyone's post below! And follow us on Instagram at #100RoomChallenge.

  1. Very cool plan I really like the shelves a lot and putting it infant of the mirror is a fun twist. Love your design vision, wishing you all the best for the next for 4 weeks!

  2. That's going to be great, I love your shelving idea! And we still have the exact same horrible medicine cabinet in our full bath too. Did yours buzz like a 20 foot bumble bee when it was on too?

    1. Haha I have no idea if they were loud because I ripped them out as soon as we moved in! I can not wait for it to be gone - medicine cabinets are the worst!

    1. Thanks Brittany, I've tried to use it as much as I can so I can learn it because I'm not super good at it. But it's such a useful tool!
