What's In My Handbag...

Today I'm teaming up with Rue La La to give you a peek into what's in my handbag and to give you some tips on picking out your own! If you're like me, you always find yourself searching for where you left your purse last - so you can a lot of my time is spent thinking about and looking for handbags. I am always on the hunt for purses that would look good with my wardrobe. Rue La La has written this amazing post on the different types of handbags called "Handbags 101". Basically they have done the leg work for you for when you decided to make the investment and get the more expensive handbag. The article gives details in to why these purses are considered luxury bags and how to maintain them so that they last as long as possible. They also have some great tips and tricks to remember when purchasing a luxury bag to make sure that you are not getting an authentic bag and not being ripped off.

When it comes to handbags, I am definitely a stuffer. Needing so much space to carry around all my essentials automatically makes my favorite type of purse, the "Tote." In Rue La La's Handbag Guide, they outline the different types of bags and the features that make them unique. But my newest and quickly becoming my favorite purse, which I feature in this post, is considered a "satchel."

A few months ago, I came across the "Alexa Tote" by Danielle Nicole, and I was instantly hooked. It's design appeals to me because of it's structure, but also because it has a great mixture of classy and edgy that I love. And then, God looked down on me and saw that I needed a pick-me-up, and sent me into a store I hardly ever go into - Designer Shoe Warehouse (because I would just spend all of my money). I got my black and white mini at DSW for wait for it... $15! And regularly, this bag retails for $80. They are currently have a huge sale for 50% off of the Clearance rack - so take advantage of it while it lasts! I also have linked some great options below, so make sure to check them out!

So what's in my purse? I'm glad you asked. Well, because I normally carry a lot of "things" in my purse, I pack them into small little bags. This is also helpful when I change purses, which I do almost everyday. If this sounds like a nightmare to you, you might want to divide your essentials into smaller bags so that you always know which compartment  they are in, and it makes switching purses a breeze - giving you more time to plan those killer outfits!

Little bag #1 (Tech bag): This is my tech bag. It holds all my chargers and parts for my phone, my mini notecards with all of my math formulas (and I just used up the last page the other day, yeah, welcome to my life), and my gum. I normally keep my gum in this bag because I have no room in my others haha, but I ran out the other day soo it's not in there right now.

Little bag #2 (Beauty bag): My beauty bag. This cute little babe holds things that make my life easier and keep me looking my best. It holds things like my lotion, which smells like peaches coated in heaven, my mineral veil (which I is the only powder light enough for my translucent skin), and my high gloss lip gloss. I have another lip gloss, but this Lance one is almost straight glitter and makes my lips look wet, so I do not use it as much as my Bobbi Brown.

"Emergency" bag: This is the bag where I keep all of my "emergency" items. If I had to choose only one little bag out of my purse to take with me places, it would be my "Emergency" bag. Like if I forget my makeup, need some hair clips, need some meds, or even some super glue, this is the bag I take out. I even keep an extra mascara tube and eyeliner pencil just in case I forget my make up in the morning - this has proven very useful because I don't wear a lot of makeup in the first place, but this just ensures that I have my backups just in case. This post actually made me realize that I need to refill this bag because as you can see I don't have some of the things I listed that I normally carry.

Loose Items: Now that we have been through all of my little baggies, I actually do have a few things floating around my purse. My lipstick stays in one of the two open pockets and my phone stays in the other. There is also a zipped pocket opposite of the open pockets, and that is where I keep my sticky note pad and pen. Also loose in my purse is my planner. There is just something about having a physical paper planner to write down dates instead of having them in my phone. I do both, but I can't seem to just rely on my phone. With that being said, I don't carry it in my smaller purses just because, well, they're small. So that's why it's not in this bag. And can we just acknowledge how cute this iPhone case is? I got it last winter and didn't get to use it because it was already past Christmas. But lucky for you guys, I have found another one that is on sale!

So that's what's in my purse! Not much, just ordinary girl stuff. But I hope you got some good tips from Rue La La's "Handbags 101," they really have some great ones to remember. I've linked all my products I use down below so check them out. Also, if having more than one handbag isn't your thing, don't worry about it! But I do encourage you to get one awesome, functional, and long lasting purse if you are that type. Because if you don't like buying them, then having one that last's you a while is key. Let me know if you guys have any more tips for when it comes to buying higher end purses!
